Many companies take shortcuts by using ordinary cow fat to produce what they label as tallow. This is a cheaper method, but it lacks the vital nutrients and benefits that come from rendering suet. Fake tallow simply doesn’t compare in terms of quality, health benefits or taste. Always ask your supplier some simple questions such as which part of the beast does the tallow fat come from? Is it 100% suet or is it other fat as well? Is it grass fed start to finish?
When you choose tallow, choose a product that is rich in nutrients and made with integrity. A slight yellow colour indicates that the tallow has been made from suet. If the product is pure white, it has been made from regular fat.
