Consuming Bone Broth
Whine not!
No… seriously. Drink bone broth and it’s quite possible that you will whine less!
Dehydrated bone broth is a natural source of minerals extracted from bones that our bodies can easily absorb. Bone broth has been known to help repair gut problems, boost immunity, assist in managing arthritis & joint pain, aid digestion, combat stress and aid efficient thyroid function, to name a few. Due to the high levels of collagen it helps growth and strength in fingernails and hair. So, the question really should be, ‘why not?’
Our bone broth has simmered for a minimum of 24 hours and the dehydration process has eliminated much of the fatty hot water taste, which allows for versatility. You’re not limited to drinking broth… You can sprinkle it on food, add it during the cooking process, after the cooking process and even eat it straight from the spoon. The possibilities are endless! Our broth is sourced from organic grass-fed beef and organic free range chickens, along with local organic produce.

Dehydrated broth can be used in its solid state and also rehydrated to a liquid. It will contain some sediment as meat and vegetable items that are included will never be soluble unless and additive is included. Our dehydrated broth has very low sodium and a mild flavour.
Freeze dried broth is best consumed as a liquid. It has a flavour boost with the added ingredients of nutritional yeast and tamari (soy product). The sodium content is higher and the flavour far richer.
Most customers have a very distinct preference between the two products as they are substantially different in both texture and taste.

Sediment is a good thing! This shows that whole foods were used instead of synthetic water based proteins and vitamins. When a product is all natural, you will ALWAYS have sediment. This is organic meat and vegetable matter that does not ever dissolve.

Add your broth to any food you like… Or just let it fly solo!
One teaspoon is equivalent to 100ml of liquid broth. Simply add 100mls boiling water to 1 tsp of powder and your broth is ready for consumption. It's as easy as making a cup of tea.
Having it in dehydrated or freeze dried is a convenient way to have broth at your fingertips anywhere, anytime! It is great for adding or disguising (with children) into every day foods; ie: sprinkled onto Bolognese sauce, scrambled eggs, used as a seasoning with or instead of salt, added to soups or stocks, sprinkled on a stir fry, blended into a smoothie, used to make gravy.
Of course you can also use broth in the same way you would use stock, or simply make a nice hot mug of broth to drink.

All animals store heavy metals in their bones, and there is always the possibility for low levels lead being present in bone broth. But one must also ascertain whether that content will outweigh the nutritional and healing benefits gained from bone broth.
Our products are tested by independant laboritories and showed no notable levels of heavy metals present in the end products. We do not test for lead specifically, and there is no requirement by Organic Certification to test for heavy metals at all, as the certification process substantially reduces the ability for heavy metals to be in the bone broth.
The following article by Chris Kresser sums up in detail the nutrient synergy and lead content in bone broth better than I ever could.

Also an article from the Weston A Price foundation covering the same issues.

Arsenic is only found in chickens if it is in the land. Arsenic and lead were not sprayed on fields in Australia, only on the fields in the US. The only ohter way they could have arsenic in their bodies would be if they are eating non organic rice meal feed that was grown on land that had arsenic sprayed on the land. Being certified organic this is not possilbe, and is highly unikely for any Australian Chicken.

Yes, our bone broth is safe and suitable for babies. It has nothing in it but certified organic real food ingredients. As long as you are comfortable with your baby on foods, then it is perfectly safe.
We recommend the dehydrated bone broth over the fully dissolving powder as the powder contains Tamari (a soy product) and is perhaps an ingredient to avoid with a baby.
The dehydrated bone broth can be used in both a liquid and solid state. In the liquid form, it may contain some sediment as it settles. These are perfectly safe, however, if you wish for a pure liquid use a tea strainer to catch these and discard.
In its solid dry form, the dehydrated broth can be used with blended solids. Simply add 1/4 teaspoon into soft foods like vegetables, meat puree’s and fruits. You don’t have to mix it with boiled water to receive the same nutritional benefits.

Broth and stock are often confused.
Stock is made with high heat and faster cooking techniques which results in a watered down liquid, lacking all the nutrients found in slow cooked broth. It is used as a flavour enhancer and is very high in sodium. Store bought varieties often contain added flavour and preservatives (like MSG) which may taste lovely but are lacking in the healing properties of bone broth.
Bone broth is cooked slowly on a low temperature to extract the maximum possible nutrients. It should be low in sodium and bland in comparison to stock. It is used as a health elixir and base for many meals. It can be used to replace stock in a recipe, however, you may need to add salt.
Please read our blog "Bone Broth vs Stock" to learn more.

All bone broth does contain some cholesterol, however we skim the fat from our broth before dehydrating which reduces the cholesterol levels substantially. Beef and lamb will have less than chicken due to the omega 6 content found in chicken. Please do read this article for an understanding on cholesterol in bone broth.

There is no need to refrigerate dehydrated broth. It can be kept in a dark cool place like the pantry. Just make up as little or as much as you require at each serve! This makes it very convenient and perfect for travelling!

There is a recommended use by date sticker on your jar of broth. Please make sure you replace the lid tightly for storage. There is no change in the use by date after opening the product. All broths are packed with a 2 year best before date.

Our best before dates are a guide of when the product is best to consume. All our broth powders have lasted longer than the 2 year best before we provide, although depending on storage they may now become a little stale. It will be very obvious if the broth is off as it will have a strong rancid aroma.

Absolutely! Not only is it safe but it is highly recommended as the nutrient density will help your baby develop its organs. In fact, we suggest 3 cups a day while pregnant to boost your protein intake and prepare you body for the most magical experience of your life. We have had our bone broths tested by independant labs to ensure there is no nutrient loss in the process of making our liquid into a powder. We guarantee full nutrient density, and by being certified organic you can be at ease knowing there are no toxins, antibiotics, medications or non organic feed being extracted from the bones during the slow cook process.
Minerals such as Iron, Potassium, Magnesium, Maganese, Phosphorus and zinc are found in our bone broth. Glucosamine and chondronitine are important for the health of bones, joints and ligaments and we would never release a product that did not contain these as they are such an important and natural part of bone broth. Our process ensures these elements are present in every cup of broth of life bone broth.

Our pork broth was a limited release. Certified organic pork bones are VERY hard to source, and we won’t be making any broth that is not certified organic due to release of toxins from bones into broth when the bones are not organic. If you have subscribed to our newsletter, we will most certainly release a statement when we have some back in stock.
